STV is a free-to-air channel from Scotland. It was launched on May 30, 2006 to replace two ITV licenses that operated in the northern and central regions of Scotland. This channel is not available in the southern region of Scotland since those belong to the ITV border region.

Both of ITV’s licenses are required to produce only 90 minutes of regional non-news shows, but the station is devoted to producing more. In recent years, STV has aired news, entertainment, weather predictions, local competitions, and sports.

Speaking about sports, STV has aired football-related shows, rugby programs, and other programs featuring biking, boxing, wrestling, and arm wrestling. One of the top football competitions aired by this channel was the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

STV was launched on SD, but an HD feed was made available to their users on April 2, 2010. The launch was specifically aimed to provide a better coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

STV is available on Scotland’s terrestrial TV feed in HD, but there is an option to the SD feed on some pay-tv carriers. Check local listings for further channel details, further information, and availability of each feed in this country.
