After a thrilling round of group stages, we’re into the business end of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 and there are plenty of great matchups and top players who all have their eyes set on hoisting the trophy on 16 January 2023.
The War Elephants and the Harimau Malaya will strive for bragging rights in the region in a mouthwatering semi-final clash.
Malaysia has one foot in the finals after narrowly edging past the reigning champions 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals just a few days ago, and all they need now is a draw to seal a place in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 finals.
In the first leg of their AFF Championship semifinals on Saturday, January 7, Malaysia will play Thailand at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. With nine points from four games, the Tigers of Malaya finished second in Group B, one point behind leaders Vietnam, who face Indonesia in the other game in the last four.
The Golden Star Warriors defeated Kim Pan-Gon’s team 3-0 after victories over Myanmar and Laos. As a result, they fell to third place in the standings, jeopardizing their prospects for advancement. However, Malaysia advanced to the semifinals at Singapore’s expense thanks to a crushing 4-1 victory over the team that came into the game one point ahead of them on the final day.
After both teams finished with ten points, Thailand won Group A on a goal difference over Indonesia. The War Elephants won big games against Brunei and the Philippines, but Indonesia held them to a draw, and they came back to beat Cambodia in their final game to win the group.
Malaysia vs Thailand Prediction :
In Malaysia’s 3-0 defeat of Vietnam, the team’s weaknesses were made clear. However, their recent home record has been spectacular, with five victories, four of which came in the Championship, and three clean sheets.
Thailand, on the other hand, scored the most goals in the group stage, scoring 13 of them, with Teerasil Dangda, a striker, scoring five of them. The Tigers of Malaya should win by a small margin despite facing a tough challenge.
Prediction: Malaysia 2-1 Thailand
